Robotic Automation — New

LightWELD Cobot System

A robotic solution that automates laser welding and cleaning — built around a collaborative robot and powered by IPG's proven LightWELD laser technology. The step up from handheld, without the cost or complexity of a full industrial robot cell.

How It Works

Automation Built on LightWELD

The LightWELD Cobot System pairs a 6-axis collaborative robot with IPG's field-proven LightWELD laser source. Instead of an operator moving the torch by hand, the cobot repeats the same precise weld or cleaning path every cycle — ideal for repetitive, higher-volume production runs where consistency matters as much as speed.

Because it's built on the same LightWELD platform used in the handheld range, the underlying welding and cleaning performance — presets, laser quality, duty cycle — carries straight across from the systems your operators may already know.

  • Collaborative robot (ABB GoFa 12) with 6-axis motion
  • LightWELD laser source, up to 2kW
  • Integrated work surface, 1,000 × 1,500mm
  • Mobile operator station with emergency stop, cycle start, and laser enable

LightWELD Cobot System switching between welding and cleaning

Weld & Clean, Automated

The same fast nozzle-swap capability from the handheld range, carried into an automated cycle — weld and pre/post-clean without manual intervention between passes.

LightWELD Cobot System safety features and enclosure

Safety by Design

Engineered safety controls around the automated cell, with an optional integrated safety enclosure for environments where a fully guarded workcell is required.

LightWELD Studio modular enclosure environment

LightWELD Studio Option

For shops that want a self-contained cell, the modular LightWELD Studio environment provides an alternative to a fixed enclosure — built around the same cobot platform.
